Charcoal Painting

Charcoal Painting

This was a charcoal exploration project towards the end of the Foundation Year. It was based out of a them extracted from a Doha written by Kabir Das. We were required to fuse living and non-living objects and charactes in whichever way possible and suitable to us; and had to be given life by charcoal and ONE soft pastel colour whcih was left for us.

The whole concept is basically to  bring to life the idea that we are all a part of a larger karmic circle, we have our own wings to fly and light up our lives. We have the freedom to do whatever we want and carve our own path and create our own Karma, all of which is an unending cycle.

We worked for days on selecting our poem, the finalising the core idea and ideating on the final concept using Photoshop and ultimately getting it approved by our facilitator to finally get on to drawing and making.

The project was super fun and challenging because I had never used soft pastels or charcoal before.
